Richie explains more about this amazing brand...
NRS™ – Near Reflective Surface
The NRS principle leverages the proximity of the speaker's enclosure to the supporting surface to enhance subwoofer performance. By exploiting this relationship, the subwoofer can achieve double sound pressure (3dB gain) with half the membrane displacement, resulting in lower distortion.
LFR™ – Listening Fatigue Reduce
Listening fatigue is often overlooked, but it's crucial to respect our perceptual system's sensitivity limitations to prevent listener discomfort. Our commitment to LFR™ ensures that our designs align with human physiology for a comfortable and enjoyable listening experience.
WMT™ – Woofer Midrange Tweeter
The exclusive WMT™ Principle controls the energy radiated by three speakers: Woofer, Midrange, and Tweeter. Unlike traditional crossover systems, WMT™ uses a unique overlapping approach where the woofer and tweeter handle most of the frequency range, while the midrange operates within a single octave. This design ensures a more uniform and gradual off-axis response, reducing room reflections and improving soundstage depth and timbre accuracy.
T38 Wave Guide™
The T38 Wave Guide™ tweeter is essential in untreated listening environments. Its innovative design and crossover network focus energy towards the listening point, minimizing the impact of room reflections. This "large" tweeter also allows for a lower crossover frequency, reducing the "detachment from the environment" effect often associated with traditional tweeters.
No Thin Veneers here...
The creation of a Chario loudspeaker begins with the choice of wood. Always strictly of Italian origin, and found in the numerous national walnut plantations in the north-eastern part of Italy.
Once the batch of trees most suitable for thickness and age has been chosen, we proceed with production including the initial cutting of the wood into to a series of boards, easier to work with.
The boards must then be left to dry for at least six months. The first three months are dried in the open air. The humidity of the wood is measured every two weeks until the correct percentage of internal humidity is reached, which is essential to avoid abnormal behaviour of the wood after processing.
The climate is a fundamental factor in this part of the process. An air humidity that is too high or too low, rain, snow and heat are all determining factors in the extension or reduction of the drying process, so it must be monitored precisely and regularly.
After achieving optimal internal humidity, the wood is sliced into slats, maintaining both the original connection between its parts and the alignment created by cutting it into boards. The staves are crafted with unique dovetail interlocking joints that stabilises the joints and joins them permanently.
The minimum age of the trees chosen for production must be at least 20 years old, this to obtain a mature wood which is suitable for processing and most importantly to ensure environmental sustainability by giving time for new trees to grow and replace both the number and quality of those previously cut.
We are proud to state that the building process of the Chario loudspeaker that you can own started 20 years ago.
