Synergistic Research Atmosphere Excite Level 2 Digital XLR

Synergistic Research Atmosphere Excite Level 2 Digital XLR

The Atmosphere Excite Level 2 Digital XLR is a premium AES/EBU digital XLR cable from Synergistic Research's Atmosphere SX family, developed for carefully matched high-fidelity audio systems. It brings the manufacturer's proprietary conductor and shielding technologies to the connection between compatible source equipment and downstream electronics.

Manufacturer construction and technology

This Excite SX Level 2 digital interconnect is specified for the balanced AES/EBU digital interface. The manufacturer's Atmosphere SX digital designs use Silver Matrix signal conductors, PTFE dielectric and UEF ground-plane treatment. Cable construction and conductor arrangements differ according to whether the connection is coaxial RCA S/PDIF or balanced AES/EBU XLR; the latter is not an ordinary analogue microphone or preamplifier lead.

Key features

• Specialist AES/EBU digital audio interconnect
• Dedicated geometry for a digital XLR connection
• Silver Matrix design and UEF shielding concepts
• Standard UK price-list length: 1m
• For compatible digital audio transports and DACs
• Interface and connector pinout should be checked before ordering

What does it connect?

Use this cable only between equipment offering compatible XLR digital output and input ports. It does not convert a coaxial RCA output or analogue balanced signal into AES/EBU.

Choosing the right configuration

Confirm the interface, source and destination sockets, connector orientation and required length before ordering. Kronos AV can check the full system and quote specialist terminations or additional lengths where offered. The available Shopify variants show the published UK configurations and prices inclusive of VAT.

Common questions

Will it work with every similarly shaped socket? No. The electrical interface must also be compatible. Will it automatically improve sound quality? Synergistic Research describes claimed sonic benefits from its UEF technologies; actual results will depend on the complete system, electrical environment and installation.
