Pro-Ject Announce the new X Range

In 1991 Pro-Ject Audio Systems started a revolution in the HiFi industry with the introduction of the Pro-Ject 1 turntable; a new high-end, low-budget turntable released at a time when CD was king. Against all odds, the newly formed Austrian company sought to create interest in analogue audio while most others were turning their backs, and their success was down to three core philosophies:

  1. Simplicity yet technical correctness in the design
  2. Use only the best available materials for the price
  3. Handcraft each product using expert engineers, with production facilities inside Europe

Thanks to these philosophies, the P1 delivered unbelievable sound at a fantastic price; but as is the way in hi-fi, many people still wanted more. So, working to the same core philosophies, the Pro-Ject 2 turntable was introduced, at a higher price, to similar plaudits and success. Both the P1 and P2 turntables have remained part of the Pro-Ject range ever since, travelling through various iterations, and today we’re delighted to announce the imminent UK availability of the latest models. The X1 and X2 follow on from the 1 Xpression Carbon and 2 Xperience SB turntables, respectively, and make use of Pro-Ject’s latest technologies and abilities to deliver exceptional performance for the price.

Investing in middle- or high-end analogue technologies is increasingly rare in the hi-fi industry, as the affordable and esoteric high-end markets become saturated with choice. However, Pro-Ject have seen that “the middle ground” is still full of passionate audiophiles who wish to avoid poor quality alternatives but cannot afford the high-end price tags. The new X1 and X2 therefore typify Pro-Ject’s belief that all analogue enthusiasts need to be catered for with something fresh and interesting, and that analogue playback is still one of the best solutions available to music lovers today.
