Synergistic Research PowerCell 12 SX
The PowerCell 12 SX is a twelve-outlet mains-conditioning platform using technologies developed for Synergistic Research's flagship SRX PowerCell. It brings substantial electromagnetic filtering capacity, active field biasing and a dedicated ground architecture to a system with numerous connected audio components.
Manufacturer technology and design
Its design uses three large SRX XL-derived folded electromagnetic cells to work across hot, neutral and ground pathways. An active ULF generator supplies selectable Red and Blue bias programmes, while the manufacturer's UEF Ground Plane and silver-alloy internal wiring form part of the signal-ground and power-distribution strategy. Synergistic Research describes the platform as non-current-limiting, with the aim of maintaining the transient demands of amplifiers rather than prioritising filtering at the expense of dynamic capability.
Key features
- Twelve treated AC outputs in the correct regional version
- Three SRX XL folded electromagnetic cells and associated electromagnetic-conditioning architecture
- Active ULF frequency biasing, with Red and Blue modes
- Dedicated grounding topology and compatibility with selected Synergistic Research Active Ground Blocks
- Machined aluminium/carbon-fibre chassis, with illuminated display and adjustable lighting
- High-current Neutrik input and premium internal Silver Matrix cabling
Who is it for?
Recommended for larger hi-fi systems with a mixture of analogue and digital sources, phono electronics, preamplification and amplifiers. If several high-draw units are connected, the installation should be designed around the relevant UK electrical and outlet ratings. Confirm the selected 230V outlet arrangement and included power lead with Kronos AV.
Frequently asked questions
Can the 12 SX power amplifiers? The manufacturer specifically designs the range for unrestricted current delivery, subject to the electrical rating of the complete installation. Is an Active Ground Block compulsory? No; the additional ground connection is an optional part of a larger Synergistic Research system.
Kronos AV specialist advice
