Frequently asked questions
Which length should I choose?
Measure along your intended installation route and allow enough slack for safe cable positioning. Please select the length before checkout.
Is this suitable for my equipment?
Check both connector ends and the required signal type. The Kronos AV team can help with compatibility if your system is unusual.
Kronos AV advice
Choose correctly terminated cables of a suitable length and gauge for the installation. A cable is not a substitute for correct equipment setup or speaker positioning.
Understanding the design
A turntable cartridge produces a comparatively small signal, so grounding and sensible cable routing are important considerations. Dedicated phono RCA cables include a ground connection where specified, while a standalone ground wire is not itself an audio interconnect.
Using it in a Hi-Fi system
Connect a turntable to an appropriate MM or MC phono stage, rather than a conventional line input, unless a suitable phono preamplifier is already built into the turntable. The ground connection should follow the turntable and phono-stage manuals.
Choosing the right length or connection
Check whether the turntable has detachable RCA leads, and whether its ground wire attaches by a post, spade or other terminal. Keep signal wiring sensibly separated from mains power adaptors when practical.
Melodika lists a 5-year series warranty for Purple, subject to the manufacturer's current terms.
A question worth asking
Does every turntable need a separate ground lead? No. Some designs have an internal ground arrangement or fixed interconnects; check the equipment instructions.
