Founded over 30 years ago by mechanical engineer Karl Wirth, Acoustic Solid was born from a desire to build the ultimate mass-loaded turntable. Today, every Acoustic Solid instrument is meticulously handcrafted, translating the microscopic grooves of your vinyl collection into pure, unadulterated emotion.

Backstory

Karl at that time still employed in the automotive industry in the field of acoustics and precision instruments, always remained faithful to the record, but was dissatisfied with the range of players on offer. He thus decided to build “his” perfect record player himself. At home, at the lathe in his garage, he created his first belt-driven turntable with the programmatic name Solid One — it’s still in use today!

    All Solid aluminum platters are machined from a single billet, ranging from 35mm thick for better resonance control to an astonishing 70mm on flagship models.

  • Advanced Resonance Control

    Acoustic Solid layers their platters with genuine leather or felt mats, often topped with a 3mm to 5mm acrylic layer to deaden unwanted frequencies.

  • Precision Bearings

    An original bearing design featuring a tight-tolerance cast lining and a ceramic ball running on a Teflon disc. This ensures incredibly low friction and eliminates wow and flutter.

  • Isolated Drive Systems

    Microprocessor-controlled synchronous motors housed in completely separate, detached units to prevent motor vibration from reaching the chassis.

By engineering the tonearm in-house, they create a flawless mechanical synergy between the chassis, the platter, and the arm.
