From a family-run specialist business in Northern Ireland to an award carrying global recognition — this is a proud moment for everyone at Kronos AV.
We’re delighted to share that Kronos AV has been selected to receive the Diamond Distinction Award 2027 for Outstanding Global Audio Retailer 2027.
The news follows our recognition as Leading High-End Audio & Home Cinema Retailer – UK 2026 in the previous Diamond Distinction Awards. Being recognised in consecutive years is especially meaningful to us, not simply because of the titles, but because of the years of work, the people and the passion behind them.
And it gives us another milestone to celebrate: this is Kronos AV’s 21st award. For a family-run company that began in Northern Ireland, reaching 21 awards is something we never imagined taking for granted. Each recognition represents another chapter in our story — but the real reward is the trust our customers continue to place in us.
It all started with a love of hi-fi
The Kronos story goes back to 1991, when David Campbell founded Kronos as a hi-fi distribution business. It wasn’t a story that began with a global operation, a huge network of stores or a marketing department. It began with an enthusiasm for good sound, knowledge of the products and the belief that specialist audio deserved specialist attention.
In 1996, we moved into retail and opened our first hi-fi shop in Dungannon, Northern Ireland. Over time, the range grew, home cinema became part of the business and we invested in proper demonstration rooms so people could actually hear the difference that the right equipment can make.
As the internet changed how people shopped, we brought that same specialist approach online. Our reach grew, but the idea stayed the same: give people the benefit of real experience, honest conversations and carefully chosen products, rather than treating hi-fi as just another box to sell.
Still a family company. Still personal.
More than three decades on, Kronos AV is still a family-run business. We have grown and adapted, and our Sussex presence has enabled us to welcome even more customers in person. But the things that matter most to us haven’t changed.
We still believe in listening before recommending. In asking what music you enjoy, how you use your system, what you already own and what you actually want to improve. Sometimes the best advice is a new component. Sometimes it is better matching, a different setup or simply getting more from what you already have.
That’s the difference between buying equipment and building a system you genuinely love. It’s why we put so much emphasis on knowledge, demonstrations, support and long-term relationships.
From Northern Ireland to customers around the world
One of the most rewarding parts of our journey is seeing how far the Kronos name has travelled. We now have customers across the world who choose to come to us for what we do — for our knowledge, the products we specialise in and the personal care that goes into helping someone make the right choice.
That’s a remarkable thing for a family business with its roots in Northern Ireland. And it’s something we never take for granted.

What this award means to us
In its announcement on 29 October 2026, the Diamond Distinction Awards team said it had continued reviewing previously recognised businesses, considering standards, customer feedback, development, reputation and the overall strength of their offering.
To us, being selected for Outstanding Global Audio Retailer 2027 is encouragement to continue doing what we believe in. It doesn’t mean we think we know everything or that there isn’t always room to improve. Quite the opposite. It reminds us that the trust customers place in us is something we need to keep earning.
