The Italian High-End Icon Built For the Dynamics of Real Music

Some amplifiers are designed to look impressive on a test bench. They generate flat lines on graphs and look great on paper, but the moment they are asked to reproduce the human voice or the sudden, violent strike of a drum kit, the illusion breaks. They sound clinical, detached, and cold.

The Manunta Classic Integrated Amplifier is entirely different. It is an amplifier designed not for static test tones, but for the untamed, emotional reality of music. Born in Italy’s tech-and-art haven of Pisa, it represents a bold, unorthodox leap forward in high-fidelity engineering.

This is an amplifier you cannot truly understand until you sit in front of it and hear it breathe.

The Philosophy: "Naturalness, Immediacy, Realism"

Founded by visionary electronic engineers Marco Manunta and Nadia Marino, M2Tech has spent nearly two decades defying mainstream hi-fi conventions. The team—composed largely of musicians, classical vocalists, and passionate audio designers—approaches engineering from a deeply emotional standpoint.

"Our goal is achieved only when the listener completely forgets to analyze the technical aspects of the equipment and simply surrenders to the music."
— Marco Manunta

Manunta rejects the sterile, mass-produced approach of using automated, microscopic surface-mount components (SMD). Instead, the Classic Integrated Amplifier is built entirely with Through-Hole Technology (THT). Every resistor, capacitor, and transistor is physically larger, meticulously selected, and mounted by hand through the circuit board.

While more expensive and labor-intensive, through-hole components allowed Manunta’s team to tune the amplifier's sonic signature by ear. It gives the amplifier unparalleled thermal stability, massive power resilience, and a rich, organic texture that recalls the golden age of 1980s hi-fi, while delivering the ultra-black backgrounds and razor-sharp resolution of modern high-end audio.

Pure Italian Craftsmanship

Every single Manunta amplifier is assembled with intense care by hand in Pisa, Italy. To the team at M2Tech, "Made in Italy" isn't a marketing label; it is a moral commitment to expert craftsmanship, local component sourcing, and absolute structural dignity.

From the beautifully brushed, minimalist aluminum chassis to the reassuring weight of its front controls, the Classic exudes an elegant, timeless aesthetic. It features a traditional layout that looks striking on any audio rack, complete with an ultra-premium, motorized Alps RK27 volume potentiometer—offering a silky, tactile response that digital volume steps can never replicate.

Power That Defies Its Size: The Twin-Turbo Supply

Look at the specifications of the Classic Integrated Amplifier, and you will see a continuous power rating of 60W per channel into 8 Ohms (100W into 4 Ohms). It sounds modest—until you turn the volume dial.

Real music is not a continuous, flat wall of sound. It is a highly dynamic journey made up of massive, microsecond explosive bursts (like a sudden piano accent or a rimshot) separated by quieter, mid-low intervals.

Manunta engineered a highly unique, intelligent power supply structured specifically to match this musical behavior:

  • The Concept: The power supply delivers a very high voltage when the amplifier is idling or mildly driven.
  • The Performance: When a sudden musical peak arrives, the amplifier draws deeply from a specialized charge reserve.
  • The Result: For short, vital musical bursts (10ms), the Classic transforms. It unleashes a massive 155W RMS per channel into 8 Ohms and an incredible 240W RMS into 4 Ohms.

In short: It costs, consumes energy, and runs cool like a standard 60-watt amplifier, but it hits, moves, and scales with the effortless grip of a 150-watt heavyweight.

The Audiophile Core: Features & Connectivity

The Classic is designed to be the definitive heart of your audio system. It features a pure Class-A preamplifier stage paired with a highly dynamic Class-B power output section, delivering an astonishingly low-distortion, wide-open soundstage.

  • Audiophile Phono Stage: Features a built-in, low-noise phono input switchable for both MM (Moving Magnet) and MC (Moving Coil) cartridges. If you don't use vinyl, flip a switch on the rear panel and it transforms into a standard RCA line input.
  • Balanced XLR Input: One true balanced XLR input alongside three single-ended RCA inputs to seamlessly connect high-end modern DACs or network stream players.
  • System Flexibility: Includes a preamplifier output (Pre-Out) to effortlessly connect an active subwoofer, or to implement passive bi-amplification with an external power amplifier.
  • Smart Control: Equipped with a traditional infrared remote control, but also features a modern Wi-Fi interface. You can control volume and inputs right from your smartphone using the free M2Tech iOS/Android app.

An Investment for Life

In full compliance with European sustainability guidelines, Manunta amplifiers are built to be heirloom pieces. By avoiding proprietary, unrepairable micro-chips and sticking to premium through-hole architecture, M2Tech ensures that every single component inside the Classic is easily accessible and replaceable. It is an eco-friendly, ethical piece of luxury audio designed to last a lifetime.

The Verdict

The Manunta Classic doesn't just play music; it wraps you in it. It treats instruments not as data points, but as physical elements in a room. The bass is tight, assertive, and terrifyingly fast; the midrange is thick and beautifully human; the top-end sparkles without a hint of fatigue.

This isn't an amplifier you buy because of a chart. This is an amplifier you buy because you heard it, and your music never sounded the same again.

Manunta's heritage

The distinct personality of the Manunta Classic isn't an accident—it is the direct reflection of its creators, Marco Manunta and Nadia Marino. Both electronic engineers who met while developing high-end gear for Italy’s premier audio houses, they founded M2Tech in 2007 with a clear, uncompromising vision.

  • Eng. Marco Manunta (Co-Founder & Chief Designer): Before launching M2Tech, Marco spent decades cementing his reputation in the upper echelons of European hi-fi. In the late 1990s, he co-founded North Star Design, pioneering high-end CD transports and DACs that are still sought after by collectors today. Later, as a lead design consultant for Audio Analogue, he spent five years engineering absolute icons of Italian power—including the massive Maestro 150 Integrated Amplifier and the legendary Aria Phono Preamp.
  • Eng. Nadia Marino (Co-Founder & Director): Bringing a meticulous background in complex architectural systems and operations engineering, Nadia ensures that every internal layout, grounding path, and structural component meets absolute military-grade precision.

What truly sets the Manunta team apart is their unorthodox blend of world-class digital expertise and deep, old-school analog roots. This is the team that completely revolutionized computer audio in 2009 by inventing the legendary hiFace—the world’s first successful high-resolution USB-to-digital bridge—proving they could master complex digital domains better than almost anyone.

Yet, when it came to creating the Manunta Classic, they deliberately stepped away from the modern trend of cold, micro-chip-reliant amplification. They poured their collective decades of analog design experience into a pure, through-hole, discrete component layout.

They don't build appliances to fill spaces on a shelf. Marco, Nadia, and their close-knit team in Pisa are musicians, classical singers, and uncompromising visionaries. They build audio gear the way a master luthier crafts a violin—blending rigorous, academic electronic engineering with an artistic obsession for how music actually feels in a room.
