dorpo may be a new name in specialist Hi-Fi, but the people behind it are not newcomers to digital audio.
The company was established by former members of the Oppo Digital team — a name enthusiasts will remember for producing some exceptionally capable and beautifully engineered digital players.
The DMP-A1 is dorpo's first dedicated audio product and that experience can be seen throughout its design: serious digital processing, extensive connectivity, carefully considered power supplies and a strong emphasis on analogue audio performance.

The A6 Master extracts considerably more from the familiar A6 platform. dorpo starts from a different point, building the DMP-A1 around ESS's flagship ES9039S Pro and designing the rest of the audio architecture around it.
A FAIR QUESTION
SO, WHAT ABOUT EVERSOLO?
It's the obvious question. Here's the honest answer.
Eversolo changed expectations of what a modern music streamer could offer, combining excellent interfaces, enormous feature lists and remarkable value.
The dorpo DMP-A1 takes a slightly different approach.
Rather than simply trying to out-Eversolo Eversolo, dorpo has concentrated heavily on the audio architecture itself: flagship ESS conversion, carefully separated power supplies, a balanced analogue stage and a dedicated headphone amplifier.
If your priority is the most mature streaming ecosystem and interface possible, Eversolo remains extremely difficult to ignore.
If your priority is moving beyond the DMP-A6 concept towards a product where DAC performance, analogue design, power architecture and headphone listening carry greater importance, the DMP-A1 becomes extremely interesting.

DESIGNED AROUND SOUND — NOT JUST FEATURES.

The DMP-A1 uses dedicated power-supply approaches for different areas of its circuitry, with a linear supply serving sensitive analogue audio sections and a separate low-noise supply for digital circuitry.
The goal is simple: prevent the enormous amount of processing taking place inside a modern streamer from compromising the analogue audio signal leaving it.
