The 2012 Bristol Show featured a host of new products and technologies. There was a fair mix of both audio and video products and amongst the highlights were the new Focal 800W UK Special Edition speakers and Focal Spirit One headphones, the Fosgate Valve phono stage, Chapter Audio’s new Note Class D music streaming amplifiers with Airplay, Dali’s new Epicon 6 loudspeaker, REL’s new baby T Zero subwoofer, Spendor’s new A 7 loudspeaker, Tannoy’s new Precision speaker range, Sim 2’s demo of the new Mico 150 3D LED projector, Anthem MRX300 receiver and the Paradigm 5.1 baby speaker system.

There were a host of other UK launches and computer audio was much in evidence.
Unbelievably there were eight different floors of equipment and frankly the show was so busy we didn’t get into many of the rooms. Given the size of the show it was also impossible to see everything there. It was a pleasant experience not to be exhibiting for once and I enjoyed getting round the show and seeing many friends from the industry. As usual most of this occurred in the bar but then that’s where all the best gossip is. Sorry but I am sworn to secrecy.
Lower Ground Floor
Starting at the bottom or the Lower Ground Floor there were five exhibitors. Audiolab and Wharfedale were making good sounds in the Brussels Suite, beside them was Sony in the Madrid suite. Tannoy were in the Dublin suite showing a new speaker range ( called Precision and sounding very impressive) to be launched later this year, Dynaudio and Chord Electronics were sharing the Copenhagan suite and finally Kef were demonstrating a high end Home Cinema system which included the very High End Blade Speakers in the Oslo suite.
Ground Floor
The ground floor was a mix of stands and also some rooms. Starting from left to right were Chord cables, Naim CD’s, Keith Monks record cleaning machines, Optimum International equipment stands, Simple Audio and What Hi-Fi.  Alongside them were QED cables, Grado headphones, Chapter Audio, Hi-Fi Racks and Atacama racks.
The Bristol suite featured Cyrus, Henley Designs, Philips TV’s, Sennheiser headphones, Quadral speakers, Supra cables, Totem speakers, Track Audio stands, Naim Audio, Cocktail Audio, Sonos and a stand featuring special offers (which was a bit tacky). Interestingly both Atacama audio and Quadraspire launched new equipment stands featuring bamboo. Vinyl’s Best were obviously selling records.
Then there were a series of rooms featuring Marantz and Denon, Arcam who launched a new high end DAC, Pioneer, NAD and Q Acoustics, Onkyo, Yamaha and PMC speakers and Bryston electronics.
Terrace Floor
Like the ground floor this level featured both stands and rooms. Focal had both with a room demonstrating their new UK Special 800 series speakers,  and stands featuring  the new Spirit One headphones and the new Bird system. Next to them was Diverse Vinyl’s stand with records galore. Sim 2, Anthem and Paradigm had two cinema demonstrations. On the other side of the level were many magazines including Hi-Fi Critic, Hi-Fi News, Hi-Fi + and Hi-Fi World, along with Classic LP’s (yet more vinyl), Mains Cables R Us, Time Step and Wilson Benesch who were making some nice sounds in the conservatory.

First Floor
Exhibitors on the first floor included Acoustic Energy who had two rooms and were demonstrating their new reference range. Ruark Audio were featuring the Vita portable audio systems, Chord Company were doing timed demos of their cables, Quadraspire were showing off their new stand, Audiovector were demonstrating with Roksan electronics and Naim were also doing timed demonstrations.
Second Floor
This floor was probably the biggest at the show with no less than 19 rooms. Exhibitors included PMC speakers and Bryston electronics, Monitor Audio speakers, Sound Fowndations (Furutech, Canor electronics, Isotech mains products and Blue Horizon), Nordost cables, Exposure electronics, Michell Engineering turntables, Proac speakers, Elac speakers, Eclipse speakers, Rega turntables, electronics and speakers, Neat Acoustics speakers, Elipson speakers and electronics, Sansui electronics, XTC electronics and speakers, Oriton equipment stands, Audio Reference (Gamut speakers and electronics, Clearaudio turntables and Fosgate phono stage) and finally Ming Da valve amplifiers.
Third Floor
Almost as busy with fifteen rooms this floor featured Dali speakers, Kudos Audio speakers, B and W speakers, headphones and Zeppelin I pod units, Talk Electronics, Audioquest cables, Epson projectors, Teac electronics, Heed Audio electronics, Atlas Cables and Vivid Audio speakers, AV Tech Media and Home Cinema and Hi-Fi Choice.
Fourth Floor
Exhibitors on this floor included Spendor speakers, Hi-Fidelity UK (Usher speakers, Electrocompaniet electronics and Acoustic Solid turntables), Kharma AV ( Primare electronics),  Optoma projectors, Canton speakers, TCI cables, Vertere cables, Amphion speakers and Nu Force electronics, Soundscience (Crusade Audio isolation products, Lethal headphones  and USB speakers), HD Anywhere ( an HD distribution system) and Audio Note valve electronics and speakers.
Tenth Floor
Leema Acoustics had this floor all to them-selves where they were demonstrating the new Elements electronics and Leema speakers.

So then a very successful 2012 Sound and Vision Show. By all accounts numbers were up on 2011 and sales were also up. There were multiple new product launches and certainly it is one of if not the biggest show in the UK at the moment. Hope you enjoyed the brief account of the show.
